ABOUT US
Respect the Break is a community-driven advocacy initiative based in Folly Beach focused on protecting access, surf culture, and the everyday experience of being on the island.
Our efforts include advocating for safe surf signage, improved and well-maintained beach showers, water safety, and preserving Folly's unique culture. We also push for honest, ongoing conversations around parking costs, because yes, they matter, and work to ensure fair and reasonable beach access while supporting local and small businesses, non-profits, and the people who live and work here year-round.
At its core, Respect the Break represents locals and small business owners who are feeling the pressure of increasing regulations that can limit access, enjoyment, and sustainability. We're here to support balance, protect what makes Folly special, and keep the island authentic.
“For now and for the next generation.”
Volunteer Meetups
Casual, action-oriented gatherings. No three-hour meetings. Just brainstorming and moving things forward. We have them twice a month - follow along on instagram or sign up to be invited to the next one! No surfboard required.

What We’re Looking Forward To
Big plans, small start - we can't do everything and we don't want to, so part of our future fundraising and events will be to help bring awareness to other organizations and non-profits to help them meet their goals.
